APPRENTICESHIP
PROGRAM
OVERVIEW
We believe developing a talented workforce is essential to sustain current base operations and future requirements. Our robust apprenticeship program offers mentorship, education, work experience, and ultimately job opportunities at Pituffik.
We work closely with guidance centers Majoriaq, vocational schools and the university to further enrich students’ technical foundations while building a pipeline for apprenticeship and job opportunities. Our diverse program expands STEM education to a broader base of students. We are proud to boast that more than 50 percent of participants are women. Once in the program, personal development courses augment technical know-how and help ease the transition into a new environment, sometimes far from their home villages.
Inussuk’s Apprenticeship Program is established and will continue to mature over the life of the BMC Program, providing continued economic development opportunities for the region.

SIMIGAQ PETERSEN
Simigaq Petersen is one of 646 people who calls Qaanaaq, one of the northernmost places on Earth, home. With either 24 hours of sunlight or 24 hours of night, depending on the time of year, explorers dubbed the site “Ultima Thule,” loosely translated from Latin as “furthest of the far places.” Petersen, 23, is enrolled in Inussuk Apprenticeship Program at the Business School at TNI in Nuuk as an office assistant apprentice. The 23-year-old is learning accounting, reception, and travel logistics skills. She will graduate in 2025.
BENJAMIN IRVING
Benjamin Irving is the first Marine Engineering intern to come from Sisimiut, Greenland’s marine engineering school. At Pituffik, he has had the opportunity to apply his experience in his work across many departments, including the power plant and the electrical and machinery departments. This remote arctic climate challenges his skills and provides him with an operational understanding of each department and the company.
ANNA-AVIAQ HENSON POULSEN
Anna-Aviaq Henson Poulsen is a 32-year old service economist in Campus Kujalleq in South Greenland. Anna-Aviaq was born in Qaanaaq and grew up in Qaqortoq. Currently, she enjoys working alongside her coworkers as an apprentice in the Community Center and Base Gym at Pituffik.
