Work at the base

At Pituffik Space Base, people with various professions and experiences work. At Inussuk, we work together to keep the base's daily operations running smoothly – from power, heating, and transportation to meals, cleaning, and administration.

A job at Pituffik allows you to utilise your expertise in an Arctic environment, where collaboration and responsibility are part of everyday life. The tasks are closely interconnected: the kitchen needs supplies, transportation requires well-functioning vehicles, and everyone needs buildings and facilities that work.

Engineering and Craftsmanship

Electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, and other craftsmen work on the maintenance and repair of the base's buildings and installations. Other technical staff deal with, among other things, electricity production, heating, water, and ventilation.

In the workshops, mechanics and technicians ensure that vehicles, machinery, and equipment are ready for tasks. The Arctic climate places special demands on both the equipment and those who maintain it.

Transport, terminal and supplies

Drivers, terminal workers, and employees within storage and logistics help people, goods, and equipment reach their destination.

The work may involve passenger service, cargo handling, inventory management, procurement, and transportation. Planning and precision are crucial at a base where supplies need to last, and the weather can change the day's plans.

Kitchen, Cleaning and Service

Chefs, kitchen staff, and employees at the food warehouse ensure the meals in the Dining Hall. Cleaning, laundry, and accommodation contribute to making the base a place to live as well.

These are tasks that have a direct impact on the daily lives and well-being of colleagues.

Administration and Specialised Functions

There are also tasks within administration, finance, IT, communication, planning, occupational health and quality. Here, employees support the daily operations and collaboration across departments.
